PELLUCIDITY
BETWEEN THE WINES II
Admitting the passage of light; transparent or translucent
nearly white, white on white, calm, texture, tranquility, hidden layers...
I invite you to watch a short video of my studio, my inspiration, my process and my art
Hello - I'm Karin
My life has come full circle. On leaving school I started my creative life studying textile design at Sydney College of the Arts which I loved but life got in the way and I went in different directions with creative pursuits taking a back seat. I returned to photography and drawing and eventually painting which was a 'love at first sight' experience. Although unplanned, becoming a professional artist became a natural succession after undertaking numerous courses and establishing a consistent daily painting practice.
I am on a never-ending journey to find new ways to express myself on the canvas with emotion and authenticity.

is a continuous play between inspiration, curiosity, experimentation, adding & subtracting, reflection, problem solving and critical thinking.
I search for balance between spontaneity and control, chaos and calm.
MY ARTISTIC PROCESS
"A work of art which did not begin in emotion is not art".
Paul Cezanne
Almost everything around me, be it nature, travels or my everyday inpsires me. I love imperfections, organic shapes, and rough textures: weathered rock, bark, the ocean on rainy days, cracked plaster and peeling paint on old walls. My art passion is consuming, it provides me with a wonderful sense of purpose…..and a long never ending to-do list!
MY INSPIRATION
I work out of my private home studio in Sydney as well as my recently re-purposed and renovated large studio on our rural property at Belbora on the mid coast of NSW. In the near future I'd love to welcome visitors for open studios and events.
